Diladdarno: Florentine “rive gauche”

What is special about this area? There are plenty of things: you will feel a change of atmosphere the moment you go over Ponte Vecchio, Santa Trinita bridge or Carraia bridge. Besides its extraordinary historical treasures, Oltrarno has less traffic and lots of quirky family-run shops where ancient arts and crafts still survive and are full of fervour. Here you can feel the authentic beat of the city and discover truly local, indigenous experiences.

Fonderia faces Lungarno Santarosa, the embankment between Vittoria and Vespucci bridge,  made up of a big accessible green space and playgrounds. In the summer, the bank of Santarosa becomes a cosy beach for tan lovers full of tables, beach umbrellas and deckchairs.

A five minute walk from Fonderia will take you to the Cascine park, the green lung of the city. It’s the biggest Florentine public park that runs along the Arno river and is over 130 hectares. The area has a rich vegetation, extended lawns and tree-lined roads, and it’s perfect for sports (done freely or in the equipped areas) or relaxing in the middle of nature.
